Tennis Leagues

Last year I got back into playing tennis when I found out about the Longmont Tennis Association. I met a lot of good people and had a lot of fun. This year I decided to join the USTA so I could play in the leagues and maybe even a tournament or two. I captained a mixed doubles team in the spring and was a member of a men’s team this summer. For both of these leagues I was playing at the NTRP 3.0 level.

Anyway, I had fun in the mixed doubles league even though we didn’t do very well, but our men’s team actually made it to the 2011 USTA Adult District Championships for Colorado! We had a very successful season and finished the regular season undefeated (we’re LTA Green).

Then we had to play a one game playoff to make it into the district championships. (Although we won 4-1, this one was a nail biter right to the end.)

Finally we played in the district championships, where our undefeated streak, and our season, came to an end.

I was a little hesitant to join the leagues at the beginning of the season since I’m not a super competitive person and I didn’t really know what to expect. Happily, I can report that there were no fights, no loud arguments, and no angry racket throwing. Everyone I played with, and against, were courteous sportsmen and I’m glad I decided to sign up. :-)
